The application should be used when the infection is so severe that it is impossible to disinfect the computer using anti-virus applications or malware removal utilities (such as Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool) running under the operating system.

Download and burn the Kaspersky Rescue Disk image to a disc or use USB
The first thing you’ll need to do is download the latest version of Kaspersky rescue disk, and then use any of your favorite CD/DVD burning application to burn that ISO image file to an optical disc.
You can also install the Kaspersky Rescue Disk ISO image to a USB device and boot your computer from it (if you are not having optical drive option), follow the steps below:

In order to use a USB device, you have to first make sure that the device is FAT or FAT32 formatted.

Download a special utility Kaspersky USB Rescue Disk Maker (rescue2usb.exe).

On the Kaspersky USB Rescue Disk Maker window, click Browse… and select the iso image of Kaspersky Rescue Disk.

Select the required USB device from the drop-down menu. and click on the big START button.

Wait until the process is complete.

Use the Kaspersky Rescue Disk to clean an infected PC
Once you have the disk or USB device ready, insert it to the computer and reboot it. After reboot, a message will appear on the screen: Press any key to enter the menu.
Press any key. A loading wizard will start (you will see the menu to select the required language). If you do not press any key in 10 seconds, the computer boots from hard drive automatically. You’ll now be able to choose between the Graphic or Text mode, we recommend using the Graphic mode for keeping the process simple.
Now, accept the End User License Agreement to continue. It then scans your computer for connected devices and searches for file systems of your local and removable disks. After that, within a few seconds you should see the full working environment of Kaspersky Rescue Disk.

Now, the first thing you should do is switch to the My Update Center tab, and then click the Start update button to download the latest anti-virus definitions from Kaspersky.

After updating the virus definition files, switch back to the Objects Scan Or perhaps you’ve rolled out new applications (such as server virtualisation, consolidation, and network convergence) that place “more eggs in one basket.” In either case, relying on yesterday’s UPS is a risky way to handle the increasing criticality of today’s IT deployments.
But even if your IT environment has remained static, don’t be lulled into a false sense of security. Even the best UPS batteries last only an average of 3–5 years—sometimes less. Millions of UPS batteries expire every year, often without users ever realising that their UPS is no longer providing the power protection they are counting on.
APC by Schneider Electric offers three ways to proactively recharge your peace of mind and make sure the UPS doesn’t become the weak link in your IT environment:

1. Upgrade to a new UPS with the latest technology

A UPS bought only three years ago relies on “old” technology. A UPS in today’s network environments requires backup runtime of hours, not minutes. Increased loads call for much greater VA capacity. IT managers need a higher degree of visibility into their physical infrastructure to manage these more complex networks. And newer technology has improved the energy efficiency of UPSs by 30–40%, making them less expensive to operate. The cost of a new UPS is small compared to the risk of depending on an aging unit to prevent data loss and system downtime.

2. Extend the life of your current UPS

Continue to rest easy with a rejuvenated factory warranty that covers your entire UPS. A 1- or 3-year Service Pack Extended Warranty prolongs the reliability of your UPS, giving you greater peace of mind.

3. Purchase only genuine APC replacement battery cartridges

With a UPS even just a couple of years old, it’s not if the unit fails because of an aging battery but when. Replace your aging battery with an authentic APC replacement battery cartridge (RBC). Don’t compromise the Legendary Reliability of your APC UPS by installing anything less than a genuine APC RBC. Only genuine APC replacement batteries are guaranteed for 100% compatibility. APC recycles used batteries in an environmentally friendly manner—almost 100% of the lead content is reused.
LinkBack : :http://www.apcc.com/solutions/display.cfm?id=9AD75AE4-5056-AE36-FE7A1B7CDF38360F&ISOCountryCode=in

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://blog.optron.co.in/2010/09/change-your-ups-why.html' title='Change your UPS! But if you don't do all this things, why do you need computer.

The answer is simple. If you have computer and you are using it; you need good antivirus software to protect it.

Today, New viruses, spyware, trojans, worms, and other malware are created every day. The virus landscape has also changed; they can not only crash your system but they can steal your data, they can hijack your email accounts, they can start sending emails to your friends, contacts and customers.

Now since you know that you need to have an antivirus software, next question is which is good antivirus software?

Like all fingers are not same, not all antivirus software are same. It more or less depends on network setup, software and configuration. Not only that it also depends on how the antivirus software is configured. I have seen many engineers just install the software and forget to enable/disable or make changes to default settings. Such mistakes would not provide you effective protection and you will have a question ...I have antivirus installed, still I get virus. What do I do?

Here is a list of things to Look For in Antivirus Software.

Detection Rate
If your antivirus can not detect a virus or threat it will not be able to protect. Well you need to keep your antivirus software updated. Higher the detection rate is better.

Scope of Protection
You will find two types of antivirus programs in market. 1. Internet Security Suite 2. Just Antivirus Software. Well, the difference is features and protection levels. If you use your computer in corporate network where you already have protected internet, secure emails and firewall on your network; you may not need firewall, email protection, web protection in your software. unless you have a laptop which you use outdoor or use USB modem like TATA/reliance.

If you are not in protected network environment or you are on small office network, you must use software which provides you complete protection against Internet Virus, web site filtering, firewall and other such features.

Ease of Use
It's like having all kind of weapons but you do not know how to use them. It's as good as not having any protection. If you can't use your antivirus software you may not be protected. Ease of use is very important when it comes to configuring settings, tuning your application, allowing or blocking access to some sites etc.

Updates
If your antivirus is not updated it will not be able to detect latest threats and will not protect your computers of networks. While attachments' days may be waning, they're still very much a part of most people's email experience. Here are five things you may not know you can do with Gmail to make sending, receiving, viewing, and finding attachments easier:

1. Drag attachments in
Simply drag files from your desktop right into the message you're composing and they'll upload from there. (Make sure you're using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox 3.6 for this to work.)

2. Select multiple attachments
Attaching multiple files one by one is no fun. Instead, just multi-select the files you want to attach by holding down the Ctrl key (or Command on a Mac) and clicking on each file you want to attach. Holding down the Shift key will select a continuous list of files.

3. Never forget an attachment again
Gmail looks for phrases in your email that suggest you meant to attach a file (things like "I've attached" or "see attachment") and warns you if it looks like you forgot to do so. Every day, this saves tons of people the embarrassment of having to send a follow up email with the file actually attached.

4. View attachments online
When you receive an attachment, sometimes you just want to view it and there's no need to download or save to your desktop. This is most common mistake people make when they install wireless router and access point.

Disable SSID Broadcast : SSID identification for wifi network. This will make your wireless network invisible. If you or anybody tries searching for wifi network in range they will not find any network around.

Change Default SSID for your device. If you don’t change anyone can guess common password used for that device based on manufactures name.

Enable Encryption: You can use WPA or WEP encryption. Never use common name or commonly used words. Try to make your password and encryption key as long as possible.

Never write your router or wifi password on manual or on your device. You may use passwords managers or maintain other ways to store your passwords.

Use MAC binding if possible. This will allow only selected computers having mac entries to connect to your network.

Many wireless routers come with firewall. Enable and use firewall to block unwanted incoming and outgoing ports.

Click here to learn more about author. Linkedin Profile.

<georss:box>18.826811199999998 72.7533269 19.2084182 72.95900190000002</georss:box>

The Right Posture to Use Computers

Many people who use computer suffer from neck pain, a lower back pain after working on computer for long time. Your monitor should be at a distance of about an arm’s length when seated comfortably. Ensure that there is no glare on your monitor.

Your keyboards and mouse should be pleased at the same height as your elbow. The mouse should be placed adjacent to the keyboard at same height of keyboard.

Make sure you keep your fingers relaxed while typing and using a mouse. Use a soft touch on the keyboard instead of pounding keys with unnecessary force.

Make sure there is space under your desk to move your legs freely. Your feet should be flat on the floor or use footrest.

Anti-Stress Tips

When working on computer for long hours, make sure you take short breaks at regular intervals.

Stretch your neck by moving your head forward/backward and side to side.

Rotate your arms and ankles clockwise and anti-clockwise.

Every 30Minutes, give your eyes a break. I am sure most of you have. But you never know why drive fails?

Hard drives are extremely delicate, the pieces inside are built with only a micron of space between them. It doesn't take much to cause a scratch or other damage. Among the causes of hard disk failure, overheating is a big one.

I am going to list some possibilities and how to prevent (Reduce chances of) failure.

Drive Installation: Yes! This could be an issue, I have seen in many computer hard drives are installed with only 2 screws or not mounted properly and there is no space for airflow. If your drives are not mounted properly it may cause vibration and can cause damage to drive platters and motors. If your platters are damages, you just can’t get your data back even if you are ready to pay huge sum.

Eclectic Surge: Electric surge is very dangerous to hard drives, you will never know if surge was present on your wires. Many people still feel they are getting clean power, but not true. An electric surge can destroy your drive electronics or can damage your drive motor. Not only your drive, many times it also destroys your motherboards and memories.

You can use good quality UPS and surge protectors, don’t rely on cheap and low quality spike guards.

Power Failures: This is again major cause of drive failure, if your drive is reading or writing and power goes off, it may cause head crash and damage your platters. You can choose from IBM, HP, Dell Servers.

Unbranded servers are good for small business or companies to run non-mission critical services like and budget is a problem. You can still use non-branded servers for mission critical use or running 24x7. It all depends on how your server is build, what components are used.

Rack or Tower : Rack servers can save lots of space compared to tower. If you are planning to co-locate your server in ISP data center you have no option but to buy Rack Mount servers. Rack mount servers are bit expensive compared to tower servers.

If you need only one or two servers and you do not have dedicated server room and rack. You must buy tower servers.

Hardware or Software RAID: Operating system like Windows 2003 or 2008 provides you option of having software RAID where you can do mirroring or even RAID 5. But this will effect performance. If you are looking for server for small set of users and your budget is limited, you may go for software RAID. Software RAID is created after Operating System is installed.

To setup hardware RAID you need a raid controller. Many server motherboard have onboard RAID controller with RAID 0,1 or 5. Hardware raid donot require processor resources hence you will get better performance. You may get features like Hot Swap which allows you to replace disk while server is running. You must opt for hardware RAID if you are using your server for mission critical applications like Exchange server or ERP server.

Running servers 24x7: If you are hosting mail server; website or running a mission critical business applications like SAP you may want your servers to run 24x7. You will need to plan and design your data center to run servers 24x7. It's not only running servers at 24x7 but your entire data center would run 24x7 to maintain availability. The first thing is providing enough power backup, cooling and redundant links. You cannot ignore security. Your server should be protected behind firewall which is configured well. Only required inbound ports should be opened. You must monitor event logs, disk space, processor and memory usage.

Call 9833189090 or visit www.optron.co.in

5 Steps to Happy Clients - Selling to Customers - Entrepreneur.com

5 Steps to Happy Clients - Selling to Customers - Entrepreneur.com

Posted using ShareThis

Protecting tally data – Scenario 1

Scenario #1

We have Tally Multiuser, we are sharing data using windows Sharing. Since we need to give read-write access to data for tally to work, I am concerned about security of my Data. Anyone can access and copy that data and take, anyone from my staff can delete files by mistake or purposefully.

What is solution?

I want to allow only selected people to access tally data.

I want to backup data automatically every day.

Answer:

Yes! There is solution available. (This is big concern for almost all companies who use tally for their accounting)

Tally is most popular and easy to use accounting software. Since tally requires full access on shared folder, it is biggest security risk. Anyone can copy your confidential financial information and share with competitions, sell it to someone or some employees purposefully delete data for whatever reason.

You can protect your data using NTFS Permissions and enabling Encryption depending on level of security you need. You can backup your data automatically every day or every few hours.

For more detailed answer – contact Optron Technologies
support@optroninfo.com

Did you like this post? You all work on your files. Where would you save them and how do you share with a colleague? You will share a drive on your computer. Well, what if your computer is off, you are concerned with if she can delete files or may get access to some confidential files also.

Server can help you –

You can share your files on a server. Create a users and groups and allow access to only people who should have permissions, you can set read only or read-writer permissions. Not only that, you can prevent deleting your files also.

Server with RAID configuration can add another level of protection by replicating content of one hard drive to other hard drive in real time. (Means you don't need to copy from one drive to other)

RAID can keep your server running even if one disk fails and you can replace disk. In some servers with hot-swap features you even don't need to shutdown server to replace hard drives.

Need more information?

What are different types of servers?

Should I buy branded or assembled server?

Can I keep my server running 24x7?

Can I replicate data of my server to another machine?

Write a mail to sales@optronnfo.com or post your queries on our community on orkut.

BackupAssist Hyper-V Granular Restore Demo

This video shows how to use BackupAssist for Hyper-V Granular Restore

Backup Assist 5.3 is Live -

Backup Assist 5.3 is out of beta and available for download. They both look same. Means, they don’t backup everything. They backup only modified and new files. So, why two names?

Typically, only a small amount of the information changes on a daily, or even a weekly, basis. For that reason, it’s good idea to backup only modified or new files. You would use incremental or differential backup method to do that. It saves lots of time and space on your backup device.
A differential backup backs up only the files that changed since the last full back. For example, suppose you do a full backup on Sunday. On Monday you back up only the files that changed since Sunday, on Tuesday you back up only the files that changed since Sunday, and so on until the next full backup.
Incremental backups also back up only the changed data, but they only back up the data that has changed since the last backup — be it a full or incremental backup. If you do an incremental backup on Tuesday, you only back up the data that changed since the incremental backup on Monday. The result is a much smaller, faster backup.
While incremental backups give much greater flexibility and granularity (time between backups), they have the reputation for taking longer to restore because the backup has to be reconstituted from the last full backup and all the incremental backups since.

So, how often you backup your data?

Finally, one hassle-free address book

Save time and frustration, stop messing with cables and difficult software

Keep your contacts in sync

Your phone, your computer and web applications will have the same address book.

Never lose your address book again!

Automatic daily backups of your contacts, so you'll be prepared when disaster strikes.

Keep your address book clean

Your duplicates are automatically removed, or you can merge them with our easy to use tools.Download from http://www.soocial.com/intro

Sync your Outlook Contacts with Gmail

GO Contact Sync is an open source tool that synchronizes your contacts between Microsoft Outlook and Google Mail, it removes the hassle of entering details more than once.
